Biji-biji Initiative is a social enterprise that aims to champion sustainable living. This upcycled product has been skilfully produced using discarded PVC advertising banners. With the aim to raise awareness and to find creative solutions for the global waste problem, the banners have been given a second-life, saving them from ending up in a landfill.
In the days leading up to the historical 14th General Elections, we see the campaigning candidates go all out in what looks to be a banner competition as much as it was an electoral run. Though the once banner flooded streets had since been cleared, these banners are now seen as waste. In collaboration with the different parties, we hope to salvage as many campaign banners off the streets and give them a second life as one of our upcycled products. All this in effort to promote awareness (of our waste) and sustainable practices as well as unity and positivity as Malaysia enters a brand new era and in a way, it’s own second life.
